~ MINUTES for FEBRUARY 5, 2009 ~

Treasurers Report - Reviewed 2009 Proposed Budget motion to accept budget, Steve Brooks & Erin Winters 2nd motion.
Old Business (continued):
Jubilee Days date set for June 3-6 with the parade proposed on Saturday. It was discussed the probability that the graduation for Knightstown would be rescheduled because of make up days.
Discussion of July 11 (Christmas in July) concert on the square - booking the Sofa Kings, 60’s & 70’s music. $600 for 2 hours. Hours 7-9 p.m. for the band; Fish Wagon 10 a.m.-6 p.m. This is primarily public relations for the town and not a fundraising event other than the fish wagon. Location: setup up on road facing grassy area where citizens can sit on grass.

New Business:
Letterhead, Window Vinyl’s, Membership cards, Banners – Discussed getting additional quotes to check for competitive pricing on listed items; will collect more information to make decisions on letterhead and membership items.

Discussed Name tags for the chamber members to be worn for attending outside functions to represent Knightstown Chamber of Commerce, ordered 6 from Everything Engraving.
Free Advertising – Rack Cards & Brochures at Rest Areas, Motels at various locations; discussed who would be interested in maintaining information at various locations.

The meeting opened with attendees announcing their name and business; new member Yogi Bear Campground Beth Moll was introduced.
Approval of minutes.
March 2, 2009 Downtown Revitalization Meeting - it was discussed that this is not a chamber event but would encourage chamber members' attendance and participation in the Main Street Program.
Decided upon Jubilee Days being June 3 through 6 with the Parade on Saturday. Friday is the Hoosier Classic.
Discussed the Tourism Lunch at Hoosier Park - Jean Krauss attending. It was decided that the chamber would pay for her to attend as a representative of the Knightstown Chamber.
Discussed getting letterhead for the chamber and showed the logo and colors being royal blue with ivory. Will continue to get quotes for stationery and envelopes.
Announced that the Christmas in July (July 11th) would feature the Sofa Kings and the fish wagon would be open to raise money to purchase additional Christmas decorations for the town.
Discussed the Full page Banner advertisement for the Chamber, half using the top for Chamber featured information and the bottom half for advertising.
Discussed letter from the Knightstown Crime watch request for donation. The chamber will be paying for a booth space at the Fundraising event. This event is April 25, 2009.
Discussion of Committees:
Jubilee Days – Jeannie Kraus will be heading up this committee along with the parade; need additional members for this committee.
Discussed committees & openings - Citizen of the Year, Farmers Market, Fish Wagon, Town Board Liaison, Business Expo, Events Coordinator, Maintenance of 3 signs (Rusty offered to take down info not relevant), Billboard Committee
Sue turned the meeting over to Jeannie Kraus who gave a presentation on Alliant Financial Group AFG.
