Students living in Knightstown and the surrounding areas are part of the Charles A. Beard Memorial School Corporation, named in honor of the famous historian Charles A. Beard, who graduated from Knightstown High School in 1891.
The school system includes Knightstown Community High School, Knightstown Intermediate School, Knightstown Elementary School, Carthage Elementary School and Kennard Elementary School. Though small compared to urban and suburban schools, Knightstown High School gives students opportunities to excel. In 2000, 76 students graduated from Knightstown High School, with over $300,000.00 dollars given in scholarships. Ground was broken in the Fall of 2001 for construction of a new high school which graduated its first class during the 2003-2004 school year. The new Knightstown High School includes state of the art facilities, a beautiful six-hundred seat auditorium, a student-operated non-commercial radio station, and much more. While Knightstown isn't a college town, many major universities are less than an hour away, including Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis, Anderson University, Ball State University, Indiana University East, Earlham College and Ivy Tech. The Danielson Center in nearby New Castle also provides a wide range of courses offered through its affiliation with Indiana University East, Purdue University and Ivy Tech College. |
